Pre-lab. Post Lab (Question one of the post lab is asking you to comment on the precision of the measurements of the “d” spacing of the diffraction grating, which is an optical device consisting of a surface ruled with close, equidistant, and parallel lines for the purpose of resolving light into spectra. In other words, is asking you to comment on the standard error that you calculate during the data processing, based on your statistical knowledge. This type of plot usually is used to prove the linearity of a data set, however another statistical property of the residuals is to weigh the error that each data point carry, by simply determine how far each point is from the zero line in such a plot. The further a point is from the zero line the more inconsistent is with the Bragg’s equation and if there are many of this point the higher the discrepancy of the data will be with Bragg’s equation.)
